About Sound Meter
Sound Meter: Your Comprehensive Sound Measurement Tool
The Sound Meter application is designed to serve as a versatile digital sound meter and decibel (dB) noise detector. This powerful tool measures sound pressure levels (SPL) or decibel levels, providing essential data for various applications.
Efficient Sound Detection
The sound meter works efficiently to determine the level of environmental noise, including acoustic sounds. It is commonly known as an SPL meter or decibel meter. Whether you're dealing with excessively loud or very quiet sounds, the sound detector helps you identify these levels to safeguard your hearing and overall well-being. The app functions as both a sound level meter and a loudness meter, making it a valuable tool for sound testing.
Comprehensive Audio Analysis
As a sound analyzer app, it acts as an audio spectrum analyzer, capable of measuring environmental noise. Decibel meters or decibel scales are often referred to as octave and sound pressure meters, noise detection tools, and sound meters. The decibel meter uses your mobile device's microphone to measure ambient noise levels in decibels. During the process, it displays the current decibel size and curve, allowing you to measure various sound levels accurately.
Practical Usage and Limitations
The DB Noise Detector utilizes your phone’s microphone to measure environmental noise in decibels. While the dB values provided by the decibel meter can vary from actual sound meters, it remains a convenient tool for performing noise measurements. Sound level meters and SPL meters are also known as frequency meters. Excessively noisy environments can be detrimental to your physical health and hearing, so protecting yourself by detecting dB values is crucial.
Important Notes
- Most Android devices' microphones are optimized for human voice frequencies. Consequently, very loud sounds over ~90 dB may not be accurately detected. Use this app as an auxiliary tool.
- For more precise measurements, consider using an actual sound level meter.
