Understanding the Gameplay

In Classic Bridge, after the cards are dealt evenly among four players, bidding begins. Players can "pass" or bid the number of tricks they believe their team can win above six in any suit or "No Trumps." Bidding proceeds like an auction, with each player having the opportunity to raise the bid or pass.

The player to the left of the Declarer makes the opening lead. Each player then plays one card in turn, following suit if possible. If unable to follow suit, players may play any card, including trumps. The player who takes the trick leads the next card. The goal for the winning bidding team is to win at least the number of tricks they bid. The opposing team aims to prevent this.

After the opening lead, the Dummy's cards are revealed for all to see. The Declarer plays both their own cards and the Dummy's. If your team wins the contract, you will play both the Declarer and Dummy hands.

Scoring and Winning the Game

At the end of each round, scores are calculated based on whether the winning bidder meets or exceeds their contract. Points are awarded accordingly, and undertricks result in penalties for the losing team. A "Rubber" is won by the team with the highest score after winning two out of three games, with games ending when one team reaches 100 contract points.
