Introduction
HAY stands for "How Are You?" and is designed to ensure your safety and peace of mind while you're at home. By keeping your trusted friends informed about your well-being, HAY provides a simple yet effective way to stay connected and seek assistance when needed.
Daily Check-Ins
The core feature of HAY is the daily check-in. When you download the app, you can invite your trusted friends to become your "HAY friends." Every day, you'll receive a notification asking how you’re feeling. Your HAY friends will be able to see your status and take appropriate actions if necessary. You can update your status anytime during the day if your condition changes. You can customize the timing of the check-in notifications in the app settings.
Automatic Alarm
The automatic alarm feature allows you to set specific times when you want your HAY friends to be notified. You can choose to receive a reminder to check in at a particular time each day. If you fail to check in, the app will first send you a reminder. Should you still not respond, an alert will be sent to your HAY friends. You can adjust the time delay before your HAY friends receive this alert. This feature is especially useful for individuals dealing with mental health issues, where continuous monitoring is important but daily check-ins might not be practical.
Manual Alarm
For urgent situations, HAY offers a manual alarm feature. On the main screen of the app, there is a "Alert your contacts" button. Pressing this button sends an immediate notification to your HAY friends. A countdown timer appears after pressing the button, giving you a few seconds to either cancel the alarm or confirm it. This provides a quick and efficient way to get immediate help during critical moments.
Chat Functionality
If an alarm is triggered, the app includes a chat function to facilitate immediate communication between you and your HAY friends. This feature enables everyone involved to discuss the situation and take necessary actions. The chat history is stored within the app, allowing you to review past interactions and understand the steps taken during emergencies. Only the person who initiated the alarm can end the chat session.
By leveraging these features, HAY ensures that you always have support and assistance when you need it most.
