Appcompanist offers a range of advanced playback options. You can transpose the music instantly up or down 11 half-steps without compromising audio quality. The melody guide track can be turned on or off, and its volume adjusted relative to the full accompaniment. You can also choose to hear the melody in one of three different octaves. The accompaniment can be held and sustained, and brought back in with perfect accuracy for musical pauses, cadenzas, recitatives, or other moments requiring a fermata. The fermata button allows you to start playback at any point in the piece precisely when you're ready.

You can check the next melody pitch when stopped and start in perfect sync with the accompaniment every time. Tempo adjustments can be made during play to suit any interpretation or set a new tempo using the tempo slider.
