What is ZhiZhu! - The Spider?

ZhiZhu! - The Spider is a new, modern, and challenging version of the ancient game "Nine Men Morris." Players battle to capture their opponent's spiders by forming small chains (3 spiders aligned on any straight line) or big chains (5 spiders aligned on any circle).

How to Play

The game consists of two main phases:

Phase 1: Placement

Players take turns placing their 9 spiders, one at a time, on any of the 24 vacant locations on the spiderweb board. During this phase, chains can be formed, leading to the capture of 1 or 2 opponent spiders.

Phase 2: Sliding Movement

Once all spiders are placed, players take turns sliding one spider to an adjacent empty location on the spiderweb (left, right, up, or down). Captures occur when a player forms a chain.

Capturing Spiders

• Small Chain: Forming 3 aligned spiders captures 1 opponent spider.
• Big Chain: Forming 5 aligned spiders captures 2 opponent spiders.

Important rules:

• A player cannot capture spiders already part of a chain unless no loose spiders are available for capture.
• Remaking a new chain with the same spiders at the same locations does not count as a valid chain.
• A new chain is valid only if at least one new spider has been slid into place.

Winning the Game

The player who captures 7 opponent spiders wins the game. Alternatively, a player can win if the opponent gives up, believing they have no way to recover and win.

Game Components

• 1 Spiderweb board
• 9 white spiders
• 9 black spiders

Start: Player A starts with 9 white spiders, and Player B starts with 9 black spiders, with the board initially empty.

Goal: The objective is to capture opponent spiders by forming aligned chains.
